Optimal fire management of a threatened species, part 1
The paper by Possingham and Tuck (1997) was among the first to apply Markov decision theory to a conservation biology problem. Here I will follow their paper and replicate their results as a worked example of how to use PyMDPtoolbox, a Markov decison process (MDP) toolbox for Python. For an introduction to MDPs see Marescot et al (2013).
